What is the cheapest way to buy a new car?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I plan on buying a new car with a loan from my bank. I want to know any tricks about buying that make it cheap. Is it cheapest to buy it from a dealer versus some other way? Are all dealers going to charge the same? Can I negotiate the price of a new car? Are certain times of year or any other factors likely to raise or lower the price?

Thank you very much!

What is the definition of a brand new car?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I’m going to be buying a new car soon. I want to buy something brand new – with as few miles on the odometer as possible.

Somebody told me once that any car with over 100 miles on it is used. True or not? What about a model from last year with less than 100 miles on it. Is it still new?

What is the definition of a new car?

Personal opinion, if a vehicle has more than 10 miles on it, I consider it used, but avio is right, technically until the vehicle is registered and licensed, it can still be considered new, despite the mileage. A friend of mine bought a "new" Honda with 143 miles on it. Smart move to buy a new car rather than used, take your time, get something you will be happy with, and best of luck.

What resources are available to retrieve a duplicate new car window sticker?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

My auto dealer removed my new car window sticker and "lost it" and continues to say a duplicate will be obtained but it never happens and my calls are now ignored. I understand a new car window sticker guarantee is upheld by law referencing the: Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, after which the sticker became known as a Monroney sticker in the industry, named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, United States Senator from Oklahoma. What recourse am I privy to?

The act prohibits removal of the sticker BEFORE sale, it doesn’t stipulate it has to be left on, or given with, once the vehicle is sold.
If you wanted the sticker you probably should have taken it with you, it would have been easier.
Good luck.

Mustang 2005

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Mustang 2005
The 2005 Mustang, to be released by Ford forty years after the original Mustang, will be both a departure and a return to tradition, as Ford steps away from the aging Fox chassis for its flagship car, yet brings back styling cues from the most popular Mustangs of the past. Ford found inspiration for the new Mustang from its 1967 Fastback model. The 2005 retro-look pony car will include a 4.6-liter, V-8 engine with 300 horsepower — the highest horsepower of any previously built Mustang. This book traces the new Mustang’s evolution from the drawing board to the production line to the street. A photographic celebration of the new car, this book delivers the inside story behind the rejuvenation of one of the most storied cars in automotive history.

When fitting new car tyres, which gives safer handling – putting the newer tyres to the rear or front?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I’ve always had my new tyres fitted to the front wheels of my front wheel drive car (if it was the rear tyres I was replacing, I’d put the front wheels to the rear and the new tyres on the front) as it seemed logical to place the newer tyres on the front where most wear takes place. However, I have heard lately from more than one source that putting the newer tyres to the rear each time gives better handling leading to better performance and (more importantly to me) more safety when braking and/or swerving sharply – even if the vehicle is front wheel drive – apparently this is something about reducing ‘oversteer’ which means little to me. Could anyone who has a good knowledge of this area please enlighten me? Which is safer? Thanks!

If the other 2 tires are is good condition, it will not make much difference, and will switch after the 1st rotation anyway. If the other 2 are NOT in good condition, then you need 4 new tires.
Much ado about nothing.

What do you think about buying a brand new car?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I have a 2000 Acura Integra that is in pretty good condition, low miles, etc… My parents bought it for me for graduation, so it is already paid for, but I would really like a brand new car. Do you think it is worth it to make a payment every month, along with rent? I want an Altima coupe. Also, how much would be a good down payment if I do decide to get the Altima? Any other tips on buying a new car?

Stick with the car you have. It’s in good shape and low miles and it’s paid for!!! What more could you ask for? Buying a brand new car these days is not worth it unless you’re rich. The value goes down thousands as soon as you drive it off the lot. I wish I new you so I could convince you to stick with what you’ve got. The car payment and insurance will be higher and you already have rent so why not save the money, keep your car and have that extra 2-300.00 dollars or more per month to do whatever you want with? The economy today has to be played right… Stick with what you’ve got.
