Will new car speakers work if used with a factory radio?

Buying a new radio would result in having to rewire the entire car, seeing as how the power from the radio would overload my factory amp, and in turn, the speakers. Do I have to buy a new radio, or will the sub woofer even affect it?
Your factory radio will need a preout for your AMP. This you will need. If so then it should go as hard as your amp will allow.
