First try http://www.craigslist.com for your area. Then you can go to MSN.com, or even Yahoo Autos and look at the local cars for sale section. Avoid Ebay.

I sold mine off of craigslist.com
You should be careful though and never meet people alone. I’ve heard some bad stories about it.

Autotrader is good, avoid e-bay unless you know about cars.
Remember that the best way to get the price down is to walk away..don’t appear too interested after they have told you the price.. Get a car price guide from a news agent and make sure you show it to the salesman, get him to find the particular model in the book if necessary.
Parkers Guide also has useful tips incluing getting an RAC inspection and check insurance groups every time.
Good Luck
Alex

Well i would ask around from your friends and relatives first. Someone may know of a car that is right up your alley. Just remember you are buying a used car and have someone with you when you go out to look at it. Ask the seller if you could take the car to your mechanic to look at before you buy it. And be sure it has its title to the car. Check the title to the Vin number under the window at the dash board of the drivers side. Craig’s list, Auto Trader, http://www.KBB.com, Car fax are all good ways to look at cars. The KBB.com will get you the wholesale price of the car as well as the private party price of the car. And of course the dealers price. Have fun and best of luck finding your car. See you in the maintenace section of yahoo answers

I am a dealer and I have vehicles for sale online but I will be the first to say,,you would be alot better off to go to a local dealer where you can check the vehicle out and check everything very well..There is so many cars online and it is so easy for you to get ripped off..A vehicle is something that should be a hands on deal.. Anyway,if you don’t do this,be very careful buying online..
