How many brand new cars are sold with a manual transmittion?

I was just curious to see how many new cars are sold with a stick shift, as it seems like as we advance with car technology we are slowly shifting gears from cars with sticks, even though they are like one or two thousand dollars cheeper than an automatic.

Worldwide, probably a majority.

The US market is switching to auto trannys as they get more reliable. But they can still fail (and do) and cost a lot of $$ to fix. I recently bought my first car with an automatic after 40 years of driving, and I regret it already.
