1. People can buy vehicles at auto auctions for very low prices – this is probably the most popular and the most obvious reason why a lot of people join auto auctions. Auctions for repossessed vehicles are especially popular among vehicle auction fans. Since the vehicles aren’t usually sold for profit, auction cars are often sold for muck lower prices then you would find at a dealership . It is therefore common to see people bidding neck and neck during auctions of ‘repo’ cars.
2. Car dealers can get new vehicles to sell here – not only ordinary consumers are drawn into auto auctions. Car dealers also frequent auto auctions so they can ascendant new vehicles to sell in their pre-owned car dealerships.
3. Car restorers look for new cars to restore in vehicle auctions – if car restoration enthusiasts cannot find cars to restore in the usual dealerships and advertisements, auto auctions are another source for them to find the one car that eludes them. And since they can buy these vehicles for very low prices, They can spend the money they save on fixing the car up .
4. Auto auctions are also haven for classic car enthusiasts – another popular type of auto auction is the classic car auction. This is where people can find cars that have a timeless appeal, thus, their moniker, classic cars. Those with the money (classic cars don’t come cheap) can bid for these vehicles and the bidding wars are often tight because of the great appeal this type of cars have.
See why people are gaga about car auctions? There are more groups of people who just love being at car auctions but the ones listed above are by far the most common types that one would find in auctions of vehicles. I am thinking about buying a car from a auto auction. What is the average price or a range in which cars are usually sold at an auction for? I just want a basic car to get me from point a to point b.
That depends on year/make/model/mileage/condition. Most public auctions for vehicles are not retail quality. The primary source of buyers for these auctions are people that know enough about cars to perform whatever maintenance that is required to get them to run. Is isn’t unheard of to buy a car for $200 or less. But the old saying is true "you get what you pay for." So don’t expect to buy a creme puff. What you buy probably wont even pass emissions tests. Be prepared to spend at least an additional $500 to make it legal.
