Three years ago Michael and Lisa started Kars-R-Us, a Professional Fundraiser specializing in Car Donation Programs.  Late in 2011 they started Wheels N Waves, a Licensed Auto Dealer, and expanded their remarketing business by buying cars online.</p>

<p>For more than 10 years Lisa has been traveling the country, meeting with Auto Auction Owners and Managers in over 40 States.  She uses that network of auctions to handle donated cars nationwide.  Lisa could see the potential to remarket other types of cars using those same contacts, so Wheels N Waves was born.  Lisa says, &#8220;We&#8217;re starting with lower value cars, and as we grow and expand we&#8217;ll be looking at targeting a wider spectrum of vehicles. <p>Michael says &#8220;Not so many years ago the internet didn&#8217;t even exist.  Now there are thousands of businesses that only exist on the web!  When Lisa started talking about buying cars online, the first thing we had to do was come up with a website and a marketing plan.  We applied what we learned from running &#8220;donate your car&#8221; websites and ads.  We started small to test the waters&#8230;just one or two markets and only a few hours a day.  We closely monitored the cost in each market and the results, and worked on fine tuning our message.  In the middle of December we turned the volume up by going online 24/7 in a handful of major markets&#8230;the results were overwhelming!   We actually had to turn some of the ads off for a few days so we could catch up and figure out how to handle the response!&#8221;</p>

All in all, the automotive industry has some of the lowest markups on products.  Where a TV may be marked up 50 percent, a car is generally only 6 to 10 percent. A little more depending on make.  The sales person is generally always paid on the amount made over what the car is owned for.  Commission percentages range from dealer to dealer. In some cases, salesmen aren&#8217;t paid a salary.  Some others work on a draw structure, where they are paid a wage, but once a commission is made, the amount paid is deducted from that commission.</p>
