Formula 1 is now officially called FIA Formula One World Championship. Formula 1 is the highest class of auto racing according to Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. The word “formula” refer to the set of rules which all the cars competing must follow .
The Formula 1 season is made up of a series of races like the Grands Prix . On incredible circuits designed to test the drivers and the cars . There are also times that it is held in public roads and closed city streets . The outcome of each race is added up to decide the winners of the two annual world championship competitions . You might wonder as to who gets the award. It goes to the driver and the constructor . The drivers, constructor teams, organizers and even track officials must be holders valid super licenses. A valid super license is a prerequisite that allows the license holder to join in the Formula One Grands Prix.
Formula One cars can race at high speeds that can be up to 360 km/hr. The engines also rev up to a formula imposed limit of about 18,000 rpm. The cars can pull an excess of 5g on various corners. The entire performance of race cars greatly depends on the electronics, suspension, tires and aerodynamics. However, traction control and driving aids are not allowed to be used . Watching Formula One on the BBC Iplayer is also a real treat .
BBC is among the largest broadcasting network in the world . It was established by a Royal Charter as a public service broadcaster. Third drivers are also allowed to drive on Fridays. However, two cars can only be used per team. Once the practice session is done, a qualifying session is held. Qualifying sessions are used to determine the positions on the starting grid . The actual race itself always begins with a warm up lap .
The warm up lap is meant to check the status of both the car and also the track . I It also allows the tyres to heat up which is essential for the traction required . It will also give the pit crews ample time to clear themselves and get their equipment away from the grid. It will be followed up by the assembly of cars on the starting grid in the order of their qualification. This lap is called the formation lap. This will let cars lap in formation with no overtaking.
