Question by Roadrat: How soon do you think society will realize that “EVENTS” are deceptive, & that “SALES” cut prices?
By law, a store cannot call something a “sale” unless actually lower-than-usual prices are applied. So seemingly all the stores, auto dealers, etc. are PRETENDING to offer savings by holding “events.” I’m betting that MOST people don’t realize they’re being **conned** by that. How long to you think it’ll take for society in general to recognize that deception and dishonesty for what it is?

I follow you on that one. People are so feeble minded and so naive that believe anything they throw at them. I remember the Lexus commercials about their so called “Events”. For me the word Sale is a Sale, not a discount. By all accounts and technically speaking all items in a store are for Sale. Is a very misleading word. The word Sale does not means a Discount but people are so stupid that they fall for it.

By the way, that is how they make money, by Selling goods, not by Discounts.

My dad I consider him one of the greatest salesman ever. I used to go to demonstrations from the advertisement companies and making market analysis and what to sell what, when and how. Lets say for a example… Take a car and overprice it and becomes some good. Since people thinks that expensive is good and also vanity is a killer too. So Toyota takes an Avalon, gold trimmed, leather seated, 2 tone paint like a Benz, overprice it and called it Lexus. There you have it a regular Toyota in disguised and people falls for it.

State Law in Missouri or Federal Law buying used cars “As Is”?
I bought a car a couple of weeks ago and I noticed a knocking noise underneath the front passenger side of the car. I took it to Toyota to have them diagnose it and the ball joint needs to be replaced. The dealership I bought it from is not willing to work with us on splitting the cost or anything, saying there is no way of proving that it was like that when we purchased it. People are telling me that there is some sort of law that covers customers buying used cars with no warranties. Some sort of law that covers the car for 30 days… does anyone have any information if this is correct or not so I can go back to the dealership and argue with them? Or am I just screwed?

It would just be easier to have them replace the stupid ball joints. It’s not like they have to do a total engine overhaul or anything.

I’m just talking about a car that looks cool. I want a car like the KTM X-Bow or the Lotus 2 Eleven because of the way they look. I don’t need it to go hecka fast or have an amazing engine or anything I just want it cause of the looks. Any advice?

Some cars that come to mind are the RX8, RX7, and S2000, but these are hardly cheap cars (though we don’t know your definition of cheap). A Mazda Miata or maybe Toyota Celica GT are cheaper cars with unique looks that never really go out of style.
