Donna’s new car

6/27/2007 – It took a big used car sale at one of our local dealerships to finally get Donna into a new car. Her old green station wagon was on its last miles. Half the electronics didn’t work and it would stall at intersections.

So after some gentle persuasion I was able to convince Donna we could afford a new "used" car.

So here it is, our new 4 year debt. A Silver/Gray Toyota RAV4 with just over 7000 miles on it.

Question by thefireman: what kinds damage occur when cars reach high mileage?
give me a real answer with good evidence.

I want to buy a new car- Preowned car- “USED CAR”.
I don’t want to pay a whole lot for the car- I just need one that runs with a good engine.
But most of these cars are high mileage cars- I am familiar with some of the problems associated with high mileage cars- but what other things should I look out for.

Just about anything, really. Piston rings get worn, engine blocks get slightly warped, freeze plugs get loose, alternator windings get fried, fuel pumps burn out, relays get frozen, starters burn out, transmissions start slipping, diffrientals get blown, radiators burst, waterpumps crack, thermostats get rusted, as well as the housings, camshafts get worn, timing chain tensioners (ahem Toyota with your plastic tensioners,) shatter, engine mounts fail, CV boots leak, Rack and pinoins start leaking.

These are actually a small list of problems I have had with the various cars I have opperated for the last 15 years. Cars will break down. This does not even include the many blown radiator hoses I have had. The older the car, the more friction all the parts have had on it.

Question by : Can a Toyota Celica become a collectible classic car?
I have a Toyota Celica. This type of car is not being made anymore, the car 10 yrs old . Can this car become a classic or a collectible car. Its considered a sports car so i was told by a “dealer” car sales person. But i am not convinced.

It is a sports car,, but i dont think it would be good for collecting,,, its too ugly,,, XD,,,, and theres nothin realy special about that kind of car.

Question by kama: Buying my first “new car” how do I know what to get?
I’m car shopping, and I’m leaning toward a honda, toyota, hyundai, or ford.. I’m not buying band new, probably a 2007 give or take a year or 2. Ive never bought a car before and Im looking for some tips to help me out. Have any ideas??

Well, you should list specifics on what you’re looking for. Unless you want a truck I wouldn’t suggest a Ford though.
