Short on Time and Energy? Save Both When You Donate a Car to Charity

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

It’s almost mid-November and many people who started fall cleanups have at last finished their work. Old, broken items from the basement and attic have long been picked up by the trash men and the leaves have been bagged up and taken away. The lawn furniture that enjoyed fresh air and sun all summer sits covered with a tarp or perhaps packed away in the garage. Fall clean ups take a lot of time and most us agree we have very little extra time to spare these days. It’s always a lot of work cleaning up yards, garages and the places inside the house that only get cleaned out once every few years. If you find yourself short on time and energy and have a car you no longer need or want, consider donating a car to charity. Car donation has become an important resource for charities across the country, helping them to keep their missions and services available to the people of the communities they serve.

If you have purchased a new car, you could always think about trading the old one in at a dealership . But oftentimes trading in your car is another time consuming task since you will no doubt spend hours first finding your new car. Then consider the time spent on paperwork and haggling for the ‘best offer’ when you are ready to trade your car in. When you donate a car to charity to save lots of time since you don’t get bogged down in endless paperwork. When you donate a car to charity you save energy because it doesn’t demand any legwork. It’s simple to donate a car. You need only have to make one call and say “donate my car” and a charity that works with auto donation will take care of the paperwork for you. Most charities that work with vehicle donation also offer to pick up your car donation so you won’t even have to go anywhere. So if you find yourself short on time and energy, you can save a little of both to do something you would rather be doing by donating a car to charity.

How to Step Up with a Stainless Steel Nerf Bars for Your Vehicle

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Why do you need stainless steel nerf bars on your truck?

Do you want your truck or SUV to look sharp as well as provide a practical, safe way to access the cab and truck bed? Stainless steel nerf bars offer you a way to bridge the gap between the ground and your truck floor.

The facts are out. People love bigger trucks and SUVs today. Monster trucks, hummers, extra heavy duty pick ups are in. The tires and wheels are bigger. Truck beds and cabs are higher from ground level. Unless you have a 30 inch vertical leap, entering a truck like this can be a hazard to your health.

The last thing you want to happen is for you or a passenger to fall and get hurt when you climb into or out of your truck. And the very last thing you need is a lawsuit or a medical claim to file.

What are Stainless Steel Nerf Bars?

Side tubes, nerf bars, step bars, running boards are side steps that are mounted just below the cab and truck door. A nerf bar running board is a piece of metal tubing that is attached to the truck body. The higher the cab and truck bed are, the greater the need for a sturdy way to step up and down from entering or exiting your truck or SUV.

No matter if you have a low-sitting midsize SUV or a monster truck, using nerf bars will give you a solid step to get into the vehicle easily, quickly and safely.

What Do Nerf Bars Do?

Nerf bars keep dirt, grime, pebbles and other debris off of your truck carpeting. Nerf bars with grooved surfaces allow water to drain from the steps so that you have a better grip and traction when you step on them.

If you have other passengers, like children, short or older people, nerf bars can help them navigate access to your truck. Also, nerf bars strengthen the sides of your truck to make it more sturdy on off-road driving.

Nerf bars are like a short step ladder – so that you can wash the top of your truck. You can step up to reach into the truck bed to stow cargo or pull it out of the truck bed.

How Sturdy are Nerf Step Bars?

Depending on the manufacturer and materials, most nerf bars have a weight capacity of 300 lbs. You can also find heavy duty designs that have extra support beneath the bars/steps to carry a weight capacity of 500 lbs. Stainless steel nerf bars resist corrosion better than other materials like aluminum or regular steel. Plus, stainless steel offers a brighter, more shiny surface that makes your truck look sharp

What brands of Nerf Bars are there?

The top Nerf bar brands are Westin, Putco, DeeZee, and Rhino. Each brand has models that are custom made for your truck’s make, model and year. So, if you own a Ford F250, there are nerf bars made specifically for your pickup.

How Do You Install Nerf Bars?

Installing nerf bars is easy and hassle-free. They require no drilling, but simple mounting on the existing holes in your vehicle’s body or frame. Installation can only take less an hour and requires only simple hand tools such as screwdrivers and a good ratchet set. However, intricate side steps like retractable step bars may need minor drilling in order to work.

Conclusion

Stainless Steel Nerf bars are a very practical accessory to make your truck more convenient to enter and exit. They show that you have a lot of class in making your truck stand out, as you stand up on them.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how many new cars (including pick-ups and SUV’s) where sold in 2009 if you really can’t find 2009 then 2008. If you could please post the site so i can see for myself.
-Thanks
best answer gets the points
I did look it up first you idiot. I’m not a mean person but don’t you think people get on here for answers not to get told that they can look it up.

Why don’t you try doing a search for "Number of new cars sold in U.S. 2009"? Or 2008 if the 2009 totals aren’t available yet.

Where can I find funding for my new business of converting gas cars to electric power?

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

I am in the prosess of starting a new business of converting older gas cars and small pick-ups to electric power. I have the technology and a source for all the parts needed, I just don’t have the money to get off the ground. My credit is not so good, so I am looking for private investors. This is a much needed product that will help reduce the usage of fossel fuels and greenhouse gases. If anyone out there can help, please let me know.

There are several Venture Capital firms that will foot the bill for this venture if you have the right credentials and the right patents. It is very difficult to find and secure "Angel" investors and you may eventually lose your company if you are not saavy enough to deal with this type of investor.

CMGI has a division that handles green investments. There are also several brokers that can steer you in the right direction on this type of thing. There are also people that can steer you in the wrong direction. E-mail me if you have any more questions.

What are the little circles on the rear bumper of new cars?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I’ve noticed a lot of new cars and trucks have these small circles (about a half inch in diameter) on the rear bumper.

I’m curious what they are. Are they sensors for airbags or mounting bolts or something?

They are reverse sensors that alert the driver when the car is getting too close to another object. I wish more pick-ups and suv’s had them.

How much are new cars marked up from dealerships?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

My boyfriend works at one and I’m just wondering (he’s not too sure, he just takes the $ they give him). **Dealerships have their markups but used cars are a much better profit because he gets around 40% comm**. So with new cars the dealership buys them from Dodge etc, and resells them an barely makes $. How much do you think they mark it up?

My boyfriend makes 20% regardless and I’m just wondering if anyone knows the appx markup value to the MSRP.

Mark-ups are different depending on the company. A general rule of thumb is 12-15% This can vary alot. edmunds.com has invoice prices for new cars – but make sure to include every equipment package and option before he accuses his work of screwing him! Some vehicles by the way have VERY SMALL profit margins so even if he sells those at full price, there isn’t much in it for him. Most base model entry level cars and light trucks fall in this category.
